Jacob. The redemption from Egypt began with a promised inheritance as a covenant promise to Abraham and his seed, not lost, but seemingly at a hopeless distance for a time. Before Mount Sinai, God, through His servant Moses, reminded the people of the abundant evidence of His power to deliver and of His purpose to bless them. The beautiful figure of the eagles’ wings illustrates the patient tenderness with which the Lord trained His people for their escape from Egypt and protected them as they journeyed.
